I’m Dhruv Shah, an equity research analyst and CFA Level II candidate pursuing my Master’s in Finance at Vanderbilt University.

I started this site to share my research on investment opportunities and market trends. My approach combines rigorous financial modeling with real world experience from working in portfolio services and wealth management. I believe good investing starts with understanding what you own and why you own it.

What I Do

I publish equity research reports and macroeconomic outlooks that break down investment opportunities in plain English. My analysis focuses on company valuations, competitive positioning, and the factors that actually move stock prices. I use the same tools and frameworks that professional analysts use, from financial modeling to Monte Carlo simulations, but I write for individual investors who want to make informed decisions.

My Background

My interest in markets started early, but it really took shape through hands on experience in portfolio services and wealth management. I’ve built dashboards that track thousands of trades daily, constructed portfolios that improved risk adjusted returns, and analyzed deals involving hundreds of millions in assets. I’ve worked on everything from portfolio optimization to back testing investment strategies across different market conditions.

I’m also working toward my CFA charter, which keeps me grounded in the fundamentals of valuation, ethics, and portfolio management.

Why This Matters

There’s too much noise in financial media. Hot takes, predictions that sound confident but lack substance, and advice that serves the advisor more than the investor. I’m not here to tell you what to buy or sell. I’m here to show you how to think about investments, what questions to ask, and how to evaluate opportunities on your own terms.

Whether you’re building a portfolio, researching a specific stock, or just trying to make sense of market movements, my goal is to give you analysis that’s thorough, honest, and actually useful.

Beyond Finance

When I’m not analyzing balance sheets, you’ll find me with a camera capturing wildlife, hunting for sneakers, or playing chess. I also play tabla, an Indian percussion instrument that requires the same kind of patience and precision that good investing does.

Let’s Connect

I’m always open to discussing investment ideas, research methodologies, or anything markets related. You can connect with me on LinkedIn
